Friday Refresh - The Timeless Impact of Teachers 🍎
Hey there!
Can you believe it’s already the first week of May? 🌸 Time is flying! With Teacher Appreciation Day coming up next week, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible educators who’ve shaped my journey (and probably yours, too).
Teachers Who Leave Footprints on Our Hearts
I’ve been blessed with some truly remarkable teachers, and their lessons have stuck with me long after the classroom walls faded from view.
Mrs. Yates, my first-grade teacher, was the embodiment of grace and patience. She created a magical space where every child felt accepted and valued. (I still hear her gentle voice when I’m trying to be patient with others!)
My mother-in-law Cathy taught for 40 years and made it her mission to spark a love of reading in every child who crossed her path. Beyond the classroom, she’s taught me priceless lessons about motherhood and raising boys into compassionate young men. The way she connects with children is nothing short of magical!
Life’s Unexpected Professors
Not all teachers stand at the front of a classroom. Some of the most profound lessons come from those who never claimed the title “teacher” but guided us nonetheless.
For me, that’s Debbie—my “Fairy Godmother.” From childhood to my first job in the Neiman Marcus Epicure department, landing my first real position at Disney, and even today—she’s been there, teaching, guiding, and showing me the way forward. Her strength, wisdom, and spiritual guidance have been a template for success in the corporate world. I’m not sure where I’d be without her.
As the saying goes, teachers come into our lives for a season, for a reason, or for a lifetime.
Your Turn to Thank a Teacher
This week, reach out to one teacher who made a difference in your life. Send a quick email, a handwritten note, or even a social-media shout-out. Let them know their impact lives on—it will mean more to them than you’ll ever know.
Wishing you a weekend filled with gratitude and sunshine,
Kecia
